Introduction to Canada Immigration

Canada Visas:
Skilled Workers and Professionals
Skilled Workers and Professionals are people who can become permanent residents because they are able to become economically established in Canada.
Your application to come to Canada as a skilled worker will be assessed on six selection factors and a point system. The six selection factors are:
- Education (maximum 25 points)
- Official languages (maximum 24 points)
- Work experience (maximum 21 points)
- Age (maximum 10 points)
- Arranged employment (maximum 10 points)
- Adaptability (maximum 10 points)
You must also show that you have enough money to support yourself and your dependants after you arrive in Canada, and pass a medical examination and security and criminal checks.

The following aspects of the regulation definition should be factored into assessment of an Investor Immigrant:
Investors:
- Have at least 2 years of business experience.
- Have a net worth of at least CAN$800,000 that was legally obtained.
- Be willing to make an investment of CAN$400,000, payable to the Receiver General for Canada. The full amount of the investment (without interest) is repaid to the investor after approximately five years. The return of the investment is fully guaranteed by the Canadian Government.
- Show that they have enough money to support themselves and their dependants after they arrive in Canada.
- Obtain a minimum of 35 points in the selection grid.
- Meet medical and security requirements.
- Meet any other requirements of Canadian or Quebec immigration regulations.
Entrepreneurs:
- Have at least two years of business experience.
- Have a net worth of at least C$300,000 that was obtained legally.
- Meet the selection criteria for the Entrepreneur Program.
- Meet medical, security and other requirements.
Self-employed Persons:
- Have relevant experience.
- Meet the selection criteria for self-employed persons.
- Meet medical, security and other requirements.
Canada Immigration for Family class immigrants
Family class immigrants are sponsored, and supported financially, by immediate family members who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents in Canada. Family members eligible for sponsorship are:
- Spouses or common-law partners
- Parents and grandparents
- Dependent children
- Brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, or grandchildren who are orphans, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship
